Characterization- "Story's quite true! I left 'em! Matter of self preservation. We were lost in the bush. I and a couple of other fellows took what food there was and cleared out." Phillip Lombard has remorse for the lives he took from the natives in Africa. He left them there with no food to die. As most know, actions speak louder than words, so by him leaving the tribe, we can guess he is a very cold-blooded person. Through this quote we can characterize Lombard as pretty heartless.

Plot Elemets- We know that in the past Phillip was wealthy. But we don't know how or why he lost his money. We can assume he is on the search for more, considering that he is taking a job for the Owens on Soldier Island.

Plot Elements- In the beginning of the book, we find out that Mr. Blore has a list of everyone invited to Soldier Island. We also find out that he has been to soldier island when he was a little boy. This makes Mr. Blore very easy to suspect.

Characterization- "Not only are you here under a false name, Mr. Blore, but in addition I've noticed this evening that you're a first class liar. You claim to have come from Natal, South Africa. I know South Africa and Natal and I'm prepared to swear that you've never set foot in South Africa in your life." This quote shows how deceptive Mr. Blore is. He is lying to all the other people, and losing all their trust. Mr. Blore is not credible, and the others will be watching him throughout their time on Soldier Island.

What if he tought the cases were either rigged or wrong, and is taking his own revenge on them. We know he has been called a hung judge, and that he wasnt the judge for all the other's cases. He could have records on the others from his possition, explaing how the letters know so much about them, and the owens not being seen (beacuse they might not exist). He could've bought the island with the money he got from being a judge, and been planning this after seeing the trials for others.

In And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, we can see that Tony Marston is a careless, selfish character. Marston says that, "I've just been thinking-- John and Lucy Combes. Must have been a couple of kids I ran over near Cambridge. Beastly bad luck"(Christie 68). This shows that Marston doesn't care for the kids he killed. He explains it as bad luck, and plainly names them as a couple of kids, without acknowledging that they were real people.

"To his right was Wargrave, slowly pacing up and down, his head bent down." (Christie 104). If someone is walking around while looking downward, it usually means someone is either looking for something, or is doing something. Whatever it means, it certainly is an odd behavior.

Justice Wargrave is known as a "hanging judge". What's odd about this is that the last character alive in the poem dies from hanging. This means Wargrave might be the last one alive and then hang himself. If he is the last character alive then that makes him the killer.
