47 - if christians buy a pardon, it’s on their own free will

48 - the pope should want people’s prayers more than their money

49 - indulgences are only useful if they are not the object of faith but they are harmful if they cause people to lose their faith in God

51 - the pope should be using his money to give to the poor people that are being pressured to buy indulgences even if that means having to sell some property.

54- it is harmful to the Word of God when more of the sermon is spent on indulgences

1. His main grievance against the church is their selling of indulgences and treating them as if they are more important than the Word of God

3. They promoted a false sense of salvation by swapping true Christian beliefs and rituals with money transactions. He believed that Christians should go to heaven because they are sincere in their beliefs and faith, not by having money to be able to buy your way to heaven.

47: Buying indulgences is a choice and not a forced act.

48:Christians know to turn to the pope for forgiveness and personal needs through their commitment to him. The bond between the people and the pope is greater than money.

49:Through buying pardons, Christians lose their trust in God

51:people are taught that they should listen to the pope and the pope should give to the poor instead of letting people trick others out of money.

54: You show not preach more about the indulgences more or the same amount as that of the Bible

1.Martin Luther’s main grievance against the Catholic Church was that they shouldn’t be selling indulgences and that it was wrong.

3. He argues that indulgences are bad for Christians because it is a ticket out of purgatory and doing so, you will stop doing all the Christian requirements for living a good life. I agree because it is like a short cut out of life and how much you have to partake in your religion. I do think someone can buy an indulgence and also be a good Christian if they put in the effort needed to be one. It can also contradict each other because if you have a ticket out of purgatory you won’t put in the effort needed to be one.

27- There is no power in saying the soul escapes suffering because they put money in the money-box.

36- Every true Christian has the right to remission of sin, without needing a letter of pardon.

41- Pope’s indulgence has to be announced with caution because the people may believe it’s more important than other works of charity.

45- Christians are being taught to buy God's anger.

46- A Christian with not much money shouldn’t spend money on pardons; instead, use it for family.

1. Martin Luther’s grievance against the Catholic Church is the sale of indulgences. He thought it unfair to be able to buy “forgiveness of sins.” Instead of letting salvation happen.

3.Luther’s arguments say indulgences are bad for Christians because they won’t put in the work of being an actual Christian afterward, like not attending church. I agree because after knowing that you have a guaranteed spot in heaven, Christians will stop acting how they’re supposed to.

55 - The pope must mean that if pardons deserve a small celebration, then the Gospel should be honored with much greater ceremony.

75 - It is crazy that a man who violated the mother of god is allowed to be pardoned

92- All the prophets who claim peace when there is not need to be gone with their claims.

94- Christians should be open and proud to follow Christ in everything they do.

95- Be confident in getting into Heaven by your struggles and not by your peace.

1.

55 - If someone is pardoned from a crime, it should be celebrated by ringing a bell. This is compared to studying the Gospel, which is to be celebrated by the ringing of one hundred bells, one hundred ceremonies, and a hundred processions. These two are most likely compared to show the importance of preaching the gospel.

75 - the pope doesn't have the power to absolve sins. indulgences are fake. only God can forgive sins.

92 - The false prophets telling true Christians how to act/be a christian.

94 - Saying how as a christian you should follow Christ no matter how hard it may be. Through hardships and suffering, follow Christ.

95 - One should enter heaven by preaching God and the Gospel, rather than by buying an indulgence.

Indulgences, and the purchasing of them.

They are bad for Christians because it will make you believe that you already are going to heaven.
