         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lucas Schauf - First Grade at Andale Elementary<br>Lucas is from a family of four, including his little brother Peter, who is his best friend<br>Lucas is very close with his Mothers side of the family, his grandma watches him twice a week and takes him to his physical therapy and speech therapy.<br>Two Open Heart Surgeries which has caused little feeling in his right arm and right leg<br>Walks with a brace on his left leg<br>Lucas is nonverbal, he can point out if you ask him a question but can't say it aloud<br>Lucas loves farm animals, his numbers from 1-10, and his alphabet<br>Lucas identifies primary colors and loves when you ask him which color is which<br>Lucas is shy and reserved but so academically smart <br>Lucas learns best with one on one and visuals <br>Lucas knows basic ASL such as "more", "thank you", "please", "potty", and "eat"<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Short Term Academic Goals  </div><ul><li>Focus on speaking words each day. </li><li>Focus on working on the right side of the body with writing, drawing, etc. </li></ul><div>Long Term Academic Goals- </div><ul><li> To independently and consistently communicate clearly in both academic and social situations during the school day. </li><li>To be able to sign a conversation with his peers and teachers if he is still non-verbal.</li></ul><div><br>Behavior Goals - </div><ul><li>Focus on Self-Regulation. </li><li>Express frustration and feelings with teacher or para. Lucas is a positive student and such a bright light in our classroom. Lucas expresses frustration with a cry for help, you can tell his frustration by his actions.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Use colored highlighters to direct attention to key information<br>Make available computer speech-enhanced text and lessons<br>Math - Lucas knows his numbers well, worksheets and dancing videos. Have students hold up fingers for numbers instead of saying them aloud. Count different animals each day.<br>Language arts - Lots of reading books and tracing the letters of the Alphabet. Trace the letters with sand or shaving cream for sensory, especially for this right hand. Music while tracing the alphabet for brain stimulation <br>Social Studies - Visuals like maps and a globe for each student<br>Science - hand-eye coordination activities that doesn't require both hands. Experiments that require me in front of the class with students in front of me<br>Physical Education - Making sure the P.E. teacher knows to work with Lucas and his brace for his leg, making sure they don't do activities that will prevent Lucas in participating. Some examples include throwing balls,bags, etc. Playing outside.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Provide simple testing methods like teaching in front of the class and then asking the students to write down what I just asked<br>Use dance breaks in-between lessons <br>Use basic ASL<br>Math- Act it out, use full body movements to represent numbers and the numbers on a clock <br>Language arts - Use ASL , Lucas knows all the basic sign language so teach students A, B, and C and have them sign answers when I ask a question aloud.<br>Social Studies - Whiteboards, ask students to draw their answers and hold up their whiteboards<br>Science - Use pictures and check-in boards. Students will put sticky notes on poster boards </div>]]></description>
