Yes "Wonder" did make a lot of sense to me. I really connected with it because in 6th grade that was my first school year ever because I was home-schooled. Just like how August was bullied I was as well, so I connected with it on a personal level being able to understand it a bit better having had those experiences.

The ways I have been making connections when reading "Wonder" was being able to connect that when I first started school I got bullied for being the "emo", "weird kid", "home-schooled kid", and August had some of the same issues.

I am personalty a very visual person so I couldn't just pick one passage from this book. I did narrow it down though. At the beginning of the book August is describing how he is a "Normal boy". He would describe his favorite toys like an Xbox, stuffed animals, drawing, things like that. I would visualize all of the things he was talking about.

Why Raquel J. Palacio wrote "Wonder" was to get a message across to not just my generation but to my parents, my sister, my sisters kids, and so on. This message is to "rather than choose right choose kind" in the words of August Pullman. Meaning that rather than be right and bring someone down in the process choose to be kind and bring that person up.

When August was coming to the school he changed a lot. He went from someone who was closed off and scared of the world to someone who was amazed by everything around him, trying to make a difference of how people treated each other. All in all when we met August at the start it was like he thought he was ugly and stuck in a shell of depression. But as we read more and he changes by the end of the book he is kind and beautiful not just on the inside but on the outside. He's ready to make a difference in the world around him by the end.

The theme of "Wonder" is not just one small thing but is full with themes everywhere. For me personalty "Wonders" theme is to stand up for yourself and believe in who you are so that you can also stand up for the people around you once you have that confidence.

The plot in "Wonder" is a bunch of issues that August has to deal with causing him to one by one fix them. So the plot can go from August talking to Summer while eating lunch to him getting beat up for being different. Its not just with August's character either it is also with many of the other characters in "Wonder". Here's an example it can go from Via talking about her old best-friend and how she still calls August to Via talking about her dead grandmother.

She tends to be very simple and direct when it comes to "Wonder" because it is more of a slice of life fast pace book. So when August explains something to us he's very aware of whats going on and that he is telling his story to us. Rather than a fly on the wall perspective its the characters that get to explain their story.

My overall opinion of "Wonder" #10 Pg: 1-315

"Wonder" to me is an amazing book that I think everyone should read at one of point in life. It helps to show that really everyone is the same we all have emotions and it hurts when someone calls you something or does something that affects you. It also shows that in public and private schools there are big bullying issues that the schools teachers and staff don't even know are there or don't do anything about. I believe if everyone read this book and took it to heart. Not just saying " It's just a book" and instead connecting it with kids to get bullied, then the school system might just be a better place.
