The school counselor assessment and appraisal is a multi-step assessment completed by the individual school counselor and their qualified administrator. This process involves self-assessments to evaluate how one feels they are doing in their professional role and the effectiveness of their services. The school counselors will also assess themselves based on ASCA competencies. This is also where a qualified administrator who is overseeing the counselor will do a professional performance evaluation. This assessment and appraisal is what the counselor uses to ensure they are meeting performance indicators, taking feedback to make improvements, and expanding on one's abilities.
