Lisa Bell
I'm super excited to be on the path to becoming an elementary teacher. I received my secondary degree in 1997, taught for a few years, then raised a family. As my kids age, I'm ready to go back to work and have decided that I'd like to try elementary school....even though it is WAY more intense than secondary, thats the part I'm nervous about! Can't wait for this new part of my life to start!

“Spend the first 3 weeks on rules and consistency or you’ll pay for it the rest of the year!” She says that sadly, smiling too much at the beginning is something she avoids. Transitions and whole class time-wasting is kept to a minimum with whole class or table group competitions. Table points to the first table ready or lining up quickly for recess gets us and extra minute of recess time. Walking in line and line up procedures are practiced over and over! Mrs. Shafer says, “we will practice walking over the map appropriately during recess if needed,” speaking of a spot on campus that the kids like to make a game of.

Fast finishers get rewarded with “job #4” which is a bonus enrichment activity that goes along with the lesson of the day. A puppet or fun craft representing the letter of the day or social studies topic etc. Job 4 is a job that all the kids want to get to! However, it is not a necessary activity that I grade, just reinforcement. After job 4, they get to read one of my books on the carpet.
