The cause of this slave trade was the constant need of workers on the sugar and tobacco plantations. Africans were being sold from west Africa, all the way to America. Along with humans being sold at this time, so was gold, spices, and other things. This slave trade had a negative impact on africans because slaves had become in their eyes "the most important trade product". The slaves had terrible lives, so some african leaders tried to stop or slow down this trade, but they were always over ruled.
