The quote describes that your actions can cause punishment to your life. Sin  can make you fall away from Christ which changes your whole life around. Falling away from Christ can make you burn eternal life in hell.

The quote makes the readers understand that to be careful of the decisions you make cause every decision you make impacts your life in either a negative or positive way. It can affect your future by the paths you choose to take. Taking the wrong path in your life can make you fall away from God. Falling away from God can make your life in misery.
