The Philippines is a country filled with diverse landscapes. Due to the variety of ecosystems found in the Philippines, birdwatching is a major activity for locals and travellers. Birdwatching tourism has a high potential to improve the financial and environmental well-being of local communities, educate locals about the value of biodiversity and create local and national incentives for successful protection and preservation of natural areas. Birding ecotourism will help smaller economies where natural habitat is conserved. As lush green parks give way to migratory birds to settle there, tourism will get a boost. Lodges, hotels, food industry, everything will step up.

The Philippines is made up of more than 7,100 islands. There are a number of great birding areas around the Philippines and each offers its own winged wonders to see. You can find more than 230 birds local to the Philippines. These birding locations are excellent ways to see the variety of bird species endemic and migratory in the Philippines.

https://wildbirdworld.com/best-bird-watching-locations-in-philippines/

It's a popular bird-watching spot and a biodiversity hotspot, with the majority of Central Luzon's remaining closed-canopy forests.

The Angat Watershed Reserve, located in the Luzon region, is home to the same-named dam and has become a prominent birding destination in the Philippines. The area is well-served by roads and trails, making it simple to get around. In the area, you can trek and hike through the Angat Rainforest and Ecological Park.

The Grey-headed Fish Eagle and the Luzon Hornbill are two birds that have been observed in the Angat area. The reserve has become a famous tourist destination since it is one of the few areas where the Spotted Imperial-pigeon may be found.

A number of local bird species are endangered, and the Angat Watershed Reserve provides a safe haven for them. You can view a variety of mammal species in addition to a variety of bird species. The Angat Watershed Reserve is home to endangered creatures such as the Crab-Eating Macaque Macaca fascicularis and the Philippine Warty Pig Sus philippensis.

Due to some people attempting to illegally cut down trees in the area, the watershed is in a “critical” state. The Angat Dam supplies 97 percent of the water consumed by Manila's 13 million citizens on a daily basis. The watershed covers about 62,000 hectares, which is home to indigenous and migratory birds.

https://wildbirdworld.com/best-bird-watching-locations-in-philippines/

The Wawa Dam was situated on the Marikina River in 1909. The dam was constructed not far from Manila and provided the city with electrical power. It used to be the only source of water for Manila until Angat Dam was built and Wawa was abandoned in 1968. The area around the Wawa Dam is now protected since it became a great spot for birding. There are paths and small foot bridges around the Wawa Dam allowing you to stroll through the grounds. Some of the birds you may see are the Little-ringed Plover, the Grey Wagtail, and the Elegant Tit. Along with seeing the various bird species that live permanently and temporarily around the dam.

The birds that live in the area around Wawa Dam are not afraid of humans.

Mounts Banahaw–San Cristobal Protected Landscape Park

The park sits at the border between Quezon and Laguna in the Calabarzon region. It covers almost 11,000 hectares of land and is considered to be the second biggest protected area in the region.

The park is named after the two volcanoes that are found in the area: Mount Banahaw and Mount San Cristobal. Many threatened birds also consider the park to be their home, which makes it an important refuge for endangered wildlife found in Southern Luzon. Mount Banahaw gets birders pretty excited, because this is where you can see the elusive Whiskered Pitta. If you don’t see it, though, don’t feel bad; it’s pretty rare. These birds include the Philippine cockatoo also called the Red-vented cockatoo, the flame-breasted fruit dove, the Philippine eagle, and the Philippine eagle-owl, the Blue-headed Fantail, and the Metallic-winged Sunbird, among many other types of birds.
In order to see them closer, you’ll need to have a spotting scope or binoculars, so that you can observe the bird’s behaviors, how they ate, rested and even how they flew.

https://www.spot.ph/things-to-do/the-latest-things-to-do/67100/10-birding-spots-in-the-philippines-a30-20160719-lfrm2

Since earliest record, birds have served as symbols of peace and war, as subjects of art, as objects for study and for ‘sport’. Their command of our imagination is not surprising because they are astonishing creatures, most notably for their versatility, their diversity, their flight and their song.
Furthermore, birds are conspicuous, can please the eye and are found everywhere. All these qualities seem to have provoked wonder and a sense of mystery since the dawn of human existence.
