How will this help:  This will help with critical thinking, explaining thinking, reading skills, learning word problem key words, eliminating excess information, math vocabulary, figuring out the operation they need to do, help you model thinking before asking for them to try it

The Daily Math Practice Books usually have 5 quick review problems. The problems are grade level specific and are based on about where the student should be in the standards. Complete the problems quickly with your students.

How will This Help: Provides TOR with important information on what the student knows and what they are struggling with. You can send more math problems to the parent to work on if the student is having trouble.The online books for each grade could be purchased by Excel so that each teacher has access to each grade level. book. The TOR could then provide resources to the parents on areas to work on.

How this will help: At LP Meetings, you could access a game that corresponds with a concept the student either needs help with or could use to show mastery.  It can also be a resource for parents to access to enrich and supplement learning for any curriculum and encourage multiple modalities of learning.

Pick a strategy: Math facts assessment at in person LP meetings ..... binder with math facts for each grade level (1st/2nd focus on adding and subtracting facts; 3rd/4th focus on multiplication; 5th/6th focus on division). Same assessment each LP meeting. Graph progress over the course of the year

How this will help: This will motivate students to work on math facts more often to beat the last meeting score.

Use as a warm-up review for Math.

Identify any opportunities if necessary to discuss or work through with the student.

This will help the student solidify concepts. The memorization of facts creates muscle memory that increases confidence and ease of future lessons.

How this will help: The apps allow a more casual, interactive experience for students. This makes the formative feel less formal and more playful.

How will this help: Completing a problem together, verbalizing, and writing down how they solved the problem will help students to clearly understand the concept.  They are explaining the “how” and “why” which shows that they mastered the topic/ concept. This could help parents to implement this in their daily schedule and doesn’t require any extra resources.  

How will this help: This will help create a fun environment centered around math and encourage additional math practice. It will teach the parents another strategy to use. Math games can also be used as an incentive to complete work or math lessons. This could include any math concept or domain that needs support based on iReady diagnostic assessments.
