Signs of neglect include poor hygiene/ grooming, dehydration, dehydration, unsanitary or cluttered living conditions, poor skin condition, lack of proper medical care if its needed, in the case of children and some elders a lack of supervision.

Those who have experienced abuse often need therapy/ counseling. Some choose to join support groups.

Sistercare is an example of a domestic abuse shelter, made specifically for women. The locations of Sistercare facilities is kept secret so abusers cannot find their victims. Donations for this organization and other similar ones take place at a seperate location. 

Someone who is in an abusive situation may be cut off from the outside world, and unable to contact friends/ family. For many being abused the thought of leaving their situation is scarier than staying. They may have problems admitting their situation to a loved one out of fear or shame. If you know someone who you suspect is in an abusive relationship you should first ask and talk to them about it.
