At our program we try to plan lessons several weeks ahead of when we will lead that activity. I personally have a hard time with executive function and a lot of planning is done outside of normal program hours. When it has worked though, I feel much more confident when those complications inevitably come up in comparison to planning the day of.

I plan the craft ahead of time. The challenging part about plans, is that it can change. We have to be flexible as teachers if there's an emergency or something happens. We have to be able to adapt to the situation. The benefits of planning ahead are having a plan of what is going to happen.

Planning ahead for me happens when I notice certain patterns that are no longer helping or when some things that are working and benefiting students and teachers in the environment. It can be challenging when planning doesn't go the way you expected it to but the benefit is that you learn to adapt to situations and plan as you go.

the difficulties of planning vary day by day. Some days we have a plan and are unable to complete the activity due to being off schedule, the children have zero interest in the activity. or even sometimes co-teachers don't feel like doing the activity so you cancel. a lot of environmental factors play into not having the time or resources to execute a plan.

For K-1, it's important to plan ahead for activities and be prepared. I plan ahead for the next week's lessons. I plan for lessons that make sense with skill levels and try to make them engaging. I plan ahead for activities the Friday before by gathering supplies, and prep those supplies for each day as needed. I make an example and also prepare for how I will explain the instructions and how materials will be passed out for the activity.

It's challenging to make plans because there can be circumstances that make those plans nonviable. It's important to be able to pivot.

Planning ahead is beneficial for transitions and being prepared. Working with K-1 is overwhelming enough, and not being prepared can lead to the kids being overwhelmed, which in turn makes me more overwhelmed.

I have always been someone that likes to plan ahead. I often make an example to show my group but have to be careful that they do not just copy exactly what I have done. This may sound dramatic, but planning ahead helps me to keep our workplace safer and cleaner. Will my particular group make less mess on tables and chairs if we use drop cloths or tablecloths? The answer is yes when we use glitter, potting soil or glue.
