I chose this quote because it is both ambiguous and offers insight to Shakespeare's comment on morality. It shows that good morals, or the brows of grace, cannot be hidden behind foul actions. It was also interesting to me because it relates to the famous quote by the witches, "fair is foul, and foul is fair".

He was confused by my sudden elizabethan diction and then continued to yell at me before I told him that I did not actually forget to walk the dog.

In a conversation with my physics teacher, I used the quote in hopes of explaining why I did not turn in my physics homework from the night before. Like my dad, Mr Mckee was very confused.

I also randomly used the quote while talking to my friend about our plans to get together. She looked at me very weirdly, then continued with our conversation.

Upon further research, I realized that this quote is about pretending to be good behind the "brows of grace". It can also be interpreted that truly good people may look the same as people pretending to be good. This is very much the case in Macbeth where the main character is hidden behind a wall of lies, yet many cannot see it until the end. However, as Malcolm describes, Macduff is truly who he says he is despite being surrounded by Macbeth's cruelty. This is significant because it makes Shakespeare's claim about the ability of people to fake their way to the top all too true in his play, "The Tragedy of Macbeth". It is also significant to me because I have seen this in many people as they act as someone that they are not simply for success. However, like Macbeth's situation, fate will catch up.

Relations to the "Lizzie McGuire Movie"

The movie entitled, "Lizzie McGuire Movie" is about a girl named Lizzie who travels to Italy with her school. There, she meets a very famous singer. He seems like a very nice boy who showers her with love to win her over. He later tells her that she resembles his former partner, Isabella, who he said is not a very good person. In fact, she looks exactly like her as many people come up to her to ask for her autograph and fan photos. He later asks her to perform at an award ceremony to replace Isabella and save her from a lawsuit as she supposedly lip syncs all of their songs. Little does Lizzie know that it is in fact Paulo who lip syncs, but he is trying to cover up his tracks and blame Isabella. Luckily, Isabella miraculously returns during the concert just as Paulo tries to expose her in front of the entire crowd when she turns off Paulo's microphone and shifts the attention to his own false singing. Humiliated, Paulo runs off the stage and is never seen again. Lizzie finishes the song alongside Isabella who joins her on stage, and then returns home with the story of a lifetime. This relates to the quote in "The Tragedy of Macbeth" as Macbeth can be related to Paulo as he is not who he says he is from the beginning. They both fall under their lies and by the end, it is them to pay the price. Paulo tries to hide his fault behind "brows of grace" similar to Macbeth hiding his cruel intentions. Isabella can be compared to Macduff as she is truly a good person who is made out to be foul by Paulo. However, Lizzie can see the truth just like Malcolm could.

1. A banker was accused of killing two women in Hong Kong. This is very unlike the type of people that bankers are made out to be. However, like the quote from Malcolm, foul people hide under brows of grace. Macbeth was seen as a war hero and an overall good person, however this changed when he murdered Duncan, like the banker had when he committed a double murder.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/08/asia/rurik-jutting-murder-hong-kong/index.html

2. On November 8th, 2016, Donald Trump became the president-elect of the United States. He was elected legally although it led to many protests around the country. People are upset that he has not clear ambitions as president, yet some still saw him as a qualified candidate. This relates back to the quote as Trump is seen hiding under "the brows of grace", although many wonder when his foul actions will come back to haunt him before he is inaugurated. Many feel that although he became more moderate after his election, his foul character may return from the brows of grace soon.
http://time.com/magazine/

3. In a Vanderbilt rape case, a popular football player is convicted of sexual assault. It is not stereotypical for a well-respected athlete to comment such horrid crimes that would jeopardize their careers. However, like Macbeth, his foul character is worn in the "brows of grace" and the athlete was sentenced to seventeen years of prison.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/05/us/vanderbilt-rape-case/index.html
