To show this, on stage directions line 24 it says "Future considers Scrooge's logic. His hand wavers." It also shows on line 34-36 that scrooge lunges to grab the spirits hand then the spirit pulls away and shrivels down into a bed post. This is something we didn't have in the original story that helps us understand how Scrooge feels.
