Actually, The merchandiser is the main responsible person to make the product in timely. He has to communicate not only will the buyers but also with the others such as suppliers, nominated factory owners and fabric manufacturer.

The costing will do the following tasks: Analyze fabric consumption from CAD, analyze cost of trims and fabric, and obtain general sewing data from IED. From there, he prepares cost sheet from sample.

Sampling is one of the most important task for all the apparel merchandisers. Here, samples have to be developed sample as per the tech pack according and develop proto sample . After confirmation of a garment export order from buyer, a garment merchandiser has to book and in-house all kinds of trimming and accessories according to buyer’s instruction. Then, obtain PCD and details from production unit, source trim and fabric from concerned dept, book washing and embroidery capacity if req, obtain GSD from IED.

Next, he will forward the samples to buyer for approval. If the sample is approved, he will work with production unit. Firstly, merchandiser hold preproduction meeting with the production unit before executing bulk order. During production process, he must follow up with production departments and update the buyer. He also submits required documents to documentation department. Before sending goods to customer, he has to offer garments for final inspection. At the final step, he has to follow up on the payments for goods at the end of the order.

Today we talk about the working conditions our company.

About the lighting, we always provide sunlights which is main source but sometime artificial lights are also used. We use smart glass and solar lights to get sunlights because they save the energy. Besides, studies also show that a natural light environment makes working more effective and good for worker’s health.

The second, about the posture, all workers sit in the correct posture, the chairs are too high but each worker has footrest. All the materials and tools are provided within easy reach so worker don’t have to waste energy between up-and down-posture.

Thirdly, about the personal working sapce, we always keep it clean and it have enough leg space for easy movement. They have space enough to put the garment materials and tools too. Especsially, all workers don’t work too closely each other so they can feel more comfortable when working.

Next, about the table size, we use the table with 60cm wide and 1200cm long to make sure that it is large enough to put the materials and garment tools.

Finally, we provide many small boxes for tools, suppliers and accessories so workers can took them within easy reach. It is convenient and saves time for the workers.

In our factory, I have realized that there are many particular problems related to the working condition. One of the problem that have affected workers most is that they find it hard to concentrate while working. The first reason is that they feel bored with mono-tasks and the second one is for long working hours without breaktime. The rusults of the survey show that, this problem has happened for nearly 4 months.

From the first place, workers may feel bored with their work because of simple and repetitive tasks. Our group have researched and we would like to propose some solution for this problem. Firstly, our factory should provide music during working hour in order to break the boredom and help the workers stay alert. This will be specially effective during the half-hour before lunch and at the end of the working day. Besides, they can increase productivity, and especially, it does not interrupt the work flow. Secondly, they also should rotate workers to different work stations that give workers chances to get multi task. Most important, this will lead to a multi-skilled workforce.

The second problem is long working hours without breaktime. It is advisable that our factory should allow frequent short breaks and organize some exercises in breaktime. No one can keep perfect attention for a long time and when attention drops, mistakes are made. So these breaks can also be an opportunity to move around and comunicate with others and help overcome the boredom and muscle fatigue.

I hope the factory's manager will solve this problem as quickly as possible to bring better and better working conditions to workers, which can improve the working efficiency and product quality of our factory.
