"Was Nick a troublemaker? Hard to say. One things sure : Nick Allen had plenty of ideas, and he knew what to do with them." O- Nick has plenty of different ideas.

N- Most of them are things to liven up the boring classes.

O : Nick is unique - unlike anyone else in school.

N : He seems to be well known by all in school and they seem to agree what Nick is like, giving him some form of reputation.

W: Why did writer not tell us directly what Nick is like?

"Mrs Granger kept a full set of thirty dictionaries on a shelf at the back of the room."

Notice: She wants all the students in the class to use the dictionary. Chapter 2 pg 10 "Every graduate of Lincoln Elementary School for the past thirty-five years could remember standing at that table listening to Mrs Granger's battle cry: 'Look it up! That's why we have the dictionary.' "

Wonder: We wonder why she wants the students to use the dictionary so much.

"She was small as teachers go.There were even some taller fifth graders.But, Mrs Granger seemed like a giant.It was her eyes that did it."

O-She is very strict

N- I notice she is small but huge at the same time.

W-I wonder why she is so strict.

N-I notice that he thinks out of the box.

1) "One time in third grade Nick decided to turn Miss Deaver's room into a tropical island. What kid in New Hampshire isn't ready for a little summer in February? So first he got everyone to make small palm trees out of green and brown construction paper and tape them onto the corners of each desk."

2) "The day after that Nick turned the classroom thermostat up to about ninety degrees with a little screwdriver he had brought from home."

3) "But the sand got tracked out into the hallway, where Manny the custodian did not think it was creative at all."

Notice: We noticed that Nick is very creative and thinks outside the box.

Wonder: We wonder why Nick didn't get scolded by Miss Deaver.

Our mothers is like Mrs. Granger. They cane us.

Mrs. Granger thought that they would soon be Grade Fives. "It didn't matter to Mrs. Granger if you weren't in fifth grade, because the way she saw it, sooner or later you would be."

N- Nick reminds me of our friend Hazel, a naughty girl who does not do her homework and is worser than Nick.

w- Why does Nick call the pen frindle?

Emma's sister. She always draws her own things and it is always very pretty.

He always wants to liven things up."Lincoln Elementary needed a good jolt once in a while, and Nick was just the guy to deliver it."

The next day all the girls wore paper flowers in their hair and all the boys wore sunglasses and beach hats.

O- she does not like chewing gum and she likes having a solemn class.

N- She is very neat and tidy

W- I wonder why she is to be so neat, is she also like this at home?

I would want my students and the school to see that they could not mess around with me.

If I were Nick, I definitely want my friends to see me as someone who understands them and is on their side. I want the school to see me as a creative person with plenty of ideas and knew what to do with them. I want them to know i walk the talk and is not afraid of giving the school a good jolt once in a while to achieve something.

• If I were Nick, I would be proud of myself that I came up with the best time waster oral report to sidetrack Mrs Granger's period.

• If I were Nick, I would want my classmates and school to see me as a creative, fun loving and thinks out of the box person that they can be with.

What do my classmates think of me after my oral report?

-They will think that I wasted most of Mrs Granger's period because of my long oral report and will feel very happy.

when I read Mrs Granger's letter, I felt a little angry and shocked as the sly old fox had actually been rooting for the word frindle the whole time. I also felt shocked that she had been helping the word frindle along all the time.

Today, I received a package from my fifth grade teacher, Mrs Granger.

I opened the package and found a letter. It came along with a maroon fountain pen---Mrs Granger's favorite pen, which I have not seen in 10 years.

After I read her letter, I realised that Mrs Granger had been rooting for the word Frindle, not pen. By fighting against it, she had actually helped it along.

I remembered Mrs Granger's special eyes. Now I understood what some of the special looks meant 10 years ago!

Today, something very unexpected happened. I received a letter from my fifth grade teacher. Her name is Mrs Granger.

When I first opened the letter, it told me to turn to page 541 of the dictionary she gave me. In front of me stood the word I invented. "Frindle"

When I finished reading her letter, I found out she had secretly been excited to see how it all turns out. She also gave me fountain pen as an congratulations gift.

I think Mrs Grangers role in the story changed from creepy teacher to a helpful friend.
