My grandpa died in my final year of college, and I thought, why can't my grandpa be by my side forever? His passing is a reminder that my family and myself will have a day when they don't exist. Not just oneself, not just people, everything in this world is a short-lived process, a thing itself does not have its own, and there is no permanent thing. At the end of this process, neither his body nor his spirit will disappear. This is very similar to the "dependent origin" and "nature emptiness" in Buddhism
All things are impermanent, it is the law of birth and death. But this does not mean that we have to believe in nihilism. Heidegger's "living towards death" has similarities with Buddhist thought. When we escape death, failure and loss, we will only fall into chaos. Only when we accept death, accept loss, and accept failure can we achieve the truest state.
