- Senses give us access to knowledge/data that is not explicit, textual, traditionally 'factual', and yields points of data that are implicit, intangible, etc
- There is a richness / value to framing data narratively, experientially...knowledge as allegory (link to Plato/Kant etc)
- Empathy element 'rounds out' the framing of knowledge ... something which the scientific method can at times neglect

- analogy/example: purely descriptive reportage stating migrant worker living conditions are restricted VS authentic/organic (albeit subjective) report of experience/narrative of said living conditions

- obvious epistemological problem: loss of objectivity / how to determine the epistemological value of subjectivity (does truth lose its 'truthiness' if it's a subjective truth?)

Limitations of the sensory method:
a. we already have a pre-existing knowledge of racial categories (and other relevant pieces of knowledge) that actually influence our sensory perception - Perception Theory-Ladenness. It's hard to be that Tabula Rasa to allow the sensory method to construct the knowledge in a 'pure' method.

Merits
a. Somewhat reliable source of knowledge in helping us to delineate categories of knowledge. E.g. wet market.
b. When encountering a place for the very first time, we can actually take on that Tabula Rasa persona and our senses can then help us to construct knowledge more purely (although we do usually have a little pre-existing knowledge of the place in this Internet age). E.g. going to a new country and being surprised, especially when our senses contradict our pre-existing knowledge.
c. Reality is so much more than our pre-existing knowledge that our senses can always have the chance at 'overwhelming' our existing body of knowledge to give rise to new knowledge.
