There are two main principles that form the basis British Constitution:

The rule of law

The principle of the rule of law consists in that the rights of individuals are determined by legal rules and not the arbitrary behaviour of authorities. Everyone, regardless of your position in society, is subject to the law.

The critical feature to the Rule of Law is that individual liberties depend on It. Its success depends on the role of trial by Jury and the impartiality of judges. It also depends on Prerogative Orders.

The supremacy of Parliament

The development of the supremacy of Parliament stemmed from the English Civil War and now it is a dominant theme in British Politics. The members of Parliament have the power to assess, pass or reject legislation. Parliament also has the power - after going through its own parliamentary processes - of altering its own laws. In every sense, the supremacy of Parliament is the backbone of British Politics.

The guarantee of the stability of the British constitution is a famous British conservatism. The Constitution, in spite of its unwritten nature, contains effective legal provisions, which provide a reliable basis for the rule of law in the UK.
