I remember how cold I was when I took this photo below. I was sitting on the sand, the sun was beginning to set, the sky was filled with clouds and there was a strong cold wind blowing in from the ocean. It was hard to keep warm even though I was dressed in warm clothes and had my hoodie tightly secured around my face. Only my eyes peeked out over the top off my mask. Looking at this photo now, it looks as though I was nice and warm - but I was cold. So cold. I knew I was cold because I had goosebumps on my arms and legs. I've had goosebumps before when I was cold and knew that it was a sign that my body was feeling cold. But what are goosebumps anyway? - and why do we get goosebumps? That's an interesting question! Today we will investigate why we get goosebumps when we are cold!
