Network was before the creation of internet. The ARPANET was a computer network developed by the U.S department of defense to communicate securely.

1970s-1990s

The first email was sent by Ray Tomlinson in 1979, this really sparked the growth of communication. The Bulletin Board Systems(BBS) and Usenet allowed for users to share not only messages but files as-well. In 1991 the World Wide Web was first launched by Tim Berners-Lee. In 1994, GeoCities allowed people to create their own websites for personal uses. Six Degrees was launched in 1997 and it was a site that connected people like an Instagram or Facebook of today's world. In 1999, LiveJournal and Blogger were making an appearance, and this allowed people to make videos and post things on the internet for others to see, almost like YouTube.
