         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many know that drugs are addictive and harmful to the human body and can cause&nbsp;</div><ul><li>Contraction of HIV, hepatitis and other illnesses.</li><li>Heart rate irregularities, heart attack.</li><li>Respiratory problems such as lung cancer, emphysema and breathing problems.</li><li>Abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea.</li><li>Kidney and liver damage.</li><li>Seizures, stroke, brain damage</li></ul><div>and much more.<br><br>Taking a recreational drug causes a rush of the hormone dopamine in your brain, which triggers feelings of pleasure. Your brain remembers these feelings and wants them repeated causing one to become addicted. When you become addicted, the substance takes on the same significance as other survival behaviors, such as eating and drinking.<br><br>If someone you know is addicted to drugs here are 5 ways they can help themselves.<br><br>&nbsp;Preparing for change: 5 key steps to addiction recovery<br><br></div><ol><li>Remind yourself of the reasons you want to change.</li><li>Think about your past attempts at recovery, if any. What worked?
