Renaissance - A period from 1450 to 1650 and was a fervent time of European cultural, artistic, political, and economic rebirth. The most important music of the renaissance was composed for the church-polyphonic masses and motet in Latin for e churches and court chapels. During the Renaissance, the use of stringed instruments increased. The instruments included the viols, lutes, cello, and more. The organ and the harpsichord were also played quite often.
Baroque - Baroque music refers to the period or dominant style of Western classical music composed from about 1600 to 1750. It was known for its grandiose, dramatic, and energetic spirit but also its stylistic diversity. During this period, modes (a set of musical notes forming a scale and from which melodies and harmonies are composed) were changed to Major and Minor keys. Also during this time, the orchestra was invented and opera started. Popular instruments played during this time include the woodwind valveless horn trumpets and the timpani.
Rococo  - The transitional, 25-year period between the baroque and classical periods is known as Rococo. The term, Rococo comes from French architecture. It’s used to describe a simpler method of decoration, a relaxation of the rules. The musical tastes of Europe had shifted to simpler styles; singable melodies, supporting accompaniment, and regular phrase lengths.

His designs now model today's recognizably modern classical guitars. Most acoustic guitars in use today are similar to his designs. When he was twelve he started an apprenticeship as a carpenter. It was not until the 1850s with the advice of Julián Arcas who was a guitarist and composer, that Torres made guitar building his profession, and he began building guitars.
