Our health can heavily be affected based on some the risks we take in life. Things such as, poor eating habits, drug usage, and lack of exercise are all behavioral risks that can have a negative impact on our health. For example, I once had a friend who was prompted to try smoking in the woods so his parents wouldn't see him. I was asked to join, but I declined the offer. My friend walked into to school the very next day with a bad cough. I tried to tell him that he shouldn't get too involved, but he was in denial that the cough was due to his bad decision. He took a risk, and it he suffered the consequences

Hereditary and Family History

Unfortunately, some people are more probable to be diagnosed with a disease than others due to their family history. We have no control over the things that are passed down in our families from generation to generation ( unless we choose to participate in selective breeding, but that's often looked down upon in society. But like the book says, " Your heredity is only part of your risk for these diseases. If you choose unhealthy behaviors, you are at great risk of having a serious health problem. In my case, my mom passed down sickle-cell disease to both me and my sister . However, we've made sure to live our lives in a proper way so that this disease never becomes a big problem.

To ensure that we maintain a physically healthy body, we must have good eating habits, and stay active. We shouldn't eat foods that are high in fat and calories. And a good way to lower our current levels of fat/calories is exercise. The book even informs us that " You can also burn energy by adding more movement to your everyday activities." I play soccer, so I'm constantly having to make sure my body is in good physical condition to participate in competitive sports. And since I've been doing it for so long, it's basically second nature to me now.
