This stage is about a kid determining if they can trust or not trust the world or people or caregivers around them. They gain trust if their caregiver takes care of their needs. The caregiver not caring about their child's needs leads to mistrust in the kid. I resolved this stage with trust. When my mom would care for me when I cried by finding out if I needed to eat, be changed, burp, or do something else I needed. I knew she would come when I needed something, which led me to trust her. According to the Child, " babies need to develop a balance between trust, which lets them form intimate relationships, and mistrust, which enables them to protect themselves (150)." The kid wants to do things independently to be self-sufficient, but if the kid gets discouraged, the kid won't want to try anything new. Their parents encourage them to try things on their own but have limits to their control from their parents. I learned how to dress for school because I wanted to be more independent, and my mom pushed me to dress for school and learn new things. This is how I resolved my crisis with Autonomy. At this stage, the child is asserting themselves by playing and trying to balance wanting to pursue goals with hesitations to pursue their goals if they experience too many restrictions from adults will lead to guilt. I resolved this with Initiative because I would play school and pretend I was a teacher. According to the Child, " At the same time, they are learning that some of the things they want to do meet social approval, whereas others do not."  (210)." I was learning with play how to act and not act while I was playing.

In this stage, a child learns how to work in society or face low-self esteem. I resolved with Industry because I worked hard in school and would work on my math facts to do good on time tests in elementary to master my skills. According to the Child, "the stage is successfully resolved, children, develop a view of themselves as being able to master skills and complete tasks (275)." I could do this by maintaining successful relationships with friends. I could do that by inspiring others and feeling like I made a mark on the world. People who are decided with Generativity do activities that mentor younger generations. People who didn't feel like they didn't make a mark on the world. According to Child, a "Mature adult is concerned with establishing and guiding the next generation or else feels personal impoverishment (13). I assume this would be resolved with Integrity so that you don't regret what happened in your life. According to Chid, "Elderly person achieves acceptance of own life, allowing acceptance of death, or else despairs over inability to relive life (13)."
