         <title>Single-Channel Hypothesis (Welford, 1952)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Once again I will be relating this example back to soccer. This hypothesis states that is stimulus 1 enters the single channel, then processing os stimulus 2 can not occur until the channel is cleared.This is something that I had been taking advantage of for years, but really had no idea what was happening until taking this class. There were a number of different moves I would use in soccer to "fake" the defender. An example of once of these would be the step over. The step over would be the first stimulus and makes the defender think you are going to go one way, but then while that stimulus is being processed I would turn the other way to get past the defender. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Parallel Processing: Stroop Effect</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The stroop effect is also something that will occasionally impact passing  medications while at work. Each resident has their own medication box at work. Within that box is a bubble punch for each medication. There are 4 different bubble punch  colors for each part of the day. A morning, afternoon, evening, and night each with their own color. Since I work the PM I pass evening medication which is orange and night which is blue. Occasionally meds will switch between evening and night depending on what the residents need, and the person who switches them will put the new name on the top. However, the color is still the same. Therefore, when I am passing the meds I will see an evening (orange) when I am passing night time meds, and they should all be blue. Even though is says night time on the top, I hesitate a little when going to grab it. This is due to the stroop effect, which is a mismatch in stimuli that occurs in the response selection phase.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>Central Resource Theory of Attention</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This theory is one that plays the most into my everyday life. This theory states that there is a central reserve of resources for attention in which everything competes. This relates the most to my life when I am trying to homework or I am studying. I've noticed over the years that I prefer it to be almost silent when I am studying. If it is't my mind will begin to wander about other things that are taking place around me. For example, if I am studying outside and I see a dog I will immediately transition my attention to the dog. This then results in very little attention being placed on my homework. Another example is when I am at work passing medications. I work as a CNA at a skilled nursing facility. When I am passing meds I do my best to not talk to the other CNA who is working because this could result in me making a medication error. Depending on the medication error this could have a very negative impact. Lucky though I have had no medication errors since I have started working.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Exproprioception</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Exproprioceptors are sensors providing proprioception but are not actually proprioceptors. These exproprioceptors are responsible for some of the oddest feeling events when in reality nothing is actually happening. Events where I think I'm moving but in reality I'm not happen the most when I am driving. For example, I have been at a stoplight a number of times just waiting for the light to turn green. While I am waiting though a car next to me will begin pulling farther up because they have more room. My vision then begins to override my proprioceptors and begins to think that my car is going in reverse. When in reality I am not moving at all. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Variability of Practice: Blocked and Random</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From 3rd grade until 12th grade I played soccer. It was something that I basically did almost everyday of my life. I would play for my school team in the Fall, set up a indoor soccer team in the winter, and then played on a club team over the summer. Growing up and playing I never payed to much attention to the way we trained. It wasn't my job to think of the way we trained, it was my job to just do it and perform in games. While I would often train on my own time, I began to mix up the way I was training. I just mixed up what I was doing though because I knew the more variable my training was, the more it would help me in a game scenario. With that being said my club coaches over the summer did a good job of mixing up the way we trained. Having taking this class I see we would often switch between blocked and random practice. I choose the video below because I often remember using blocked practice to train for penalty kicks. There would be chunks of practice occasionally where we would just focus on penalty kicks before moving to the next task. We would also have lots of random practice though transitioning between penalty kicks, free kicks, and other shooting around the 18. </div>]]></description>
