US spacecrafts like SpaceX Starship, DST, and Mars Odyssey have all been made to be launched to Mars. Mars has been a planet the US has been trying to discover and learn more about over the last few years. Even though the US is not competing against another country for this discovery, it is much like the space race in a sense of trying to put spacecrafts or living organisms in space.

NASA is still active in the US and has advanced in many ways over the years since the space race. NASA has gone so far beyond putting a man in space, we have discovered so much of space and changed the way people build and fly airplanes. It has brought us the understanding of the universe outside of our world as well as our planet.

Recently, there has been talk that you will be able to travel to space with your family/ friends for a "vacation". In 2027 there is said there will be space hotels for people who want to have experince of travelling to space. Even if some of this is not true, the US has come a long way in space travel to be able to bring just about anyone willing to pay to space.

Ways the space race created competition between the US and USSR

The two nations both wanted to be the superior country with more advanced technology. The soviets "sputnik" was the spark of competition for the US to create something with greater purpose than the USSR's spacecraft.

Before and during the space race there was a lot of war tension between the two countries. Both countries were developing not just space crafts, but also nuclear weapons. In that case, America was urgently trying to get information on how much power and intelligence the Soviets had about air/ space crafts and missiles.

One of the major competitions during the space race was getting humans in space. This was a really big thing for both countries as they were both progressing towards it. The USSR sends the first man to orbit space, a year later America does the same. Many other trials happen in between then, with lots of failures from both sides. And then finally, the US wins the space race by having the first man land on the moon.

It marks the end of communism in Germany soon after the fall of the Berlin wall.

The US continues with their space research.
