         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Listening is not the same as hearing; learn to listen not only to the words being spoken but how they are being spoken and the non-verbal messages sent with them" (2).<br><br>When a friend of mine was going through a hard time she often came to me for help. I learned the way she would express her emotions and act when upset and it became easy to pick up on how she was feeling when she spoke to me.</div>]]></description>

To do this you need to be aware of what is going on in other people’s lives" (3).&nbsp;<br><br>This friend had become very closed off and never wanted to do anything with her other friends and we all were not sure why. Eventually she told me her parents were fighting and she thought they were on the verge of a divorce. </div>]]></description>

Make other people feel welcome, wanted, valued and appreciated in your communications" (3).<br><br>Every time I could tell my friend was upset I would encourage her to talk about it and offer the opportunity for her to vent. At the end of these conversations I would also remind her that I was always there for her if she needed someone to talk to.</div>]]></description>
