The History of Taiwan

Taiwan's history is marked by a blend of indigenous cultures, colonial influence, and political transformations. Originally inhabited by indigenous Austronesian peoples, Taiwan was first settled by Chinese migrants during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In 1624, the Dutch established a colony on the island, which was later taken over by the Ming loyalist Koxinga in 1662. Taiwan was incorporated into the Qing Empire in 1683.

In 1895, following the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was ceded to Japan, remaining under Japanese rule until the end of World War II in 1945. After Japan's defeat, Taiwan was placed under the administration of the Republic of China (ROC). In 1949, the ROC government retreated to Taiwan after losing the Chinese Civil War to the Communist Party of China, establishing Taipei as the provisional capital.

Since then, Taiwan has developed into a separate political and economic entity, with a democratic government and a robust economy. The status of Taiwan remains a sensitive issue, with China claiming it as part of its territory, while Taiwan maintains its own government, military, and constitution.

Taiwan is incredibly biodiverse. This is especially true for butterflies. About 400 species of butterflies live here, which is quite a number considering the island's relatively small size. This diversity is so significant that Taiwan is often referred to as the 'Butterfly Kingdom'. The island's diverse altitudes, climates and habitats create the perfect environment for these colorful insects to thrive. 고서준

The road expansion on both sides has only partially demolished it, leaving intact images of the demolished building, exposed steel bars, and stained bricks. With a strong appeal from renowned exhibition planner 杜昭, the artists have been brought together and recreated into various styles of public art with their existing appearances. In recent years, the municipal government has been actively promoting the reconstruction of the landscape, creating more comfortable walking spaces for travelers. Besides art landscaping, Hainan has many pubs, drink shops, charcoal-grilled stalls, and beer houses as well.

Baobing (刨冰) refers to Taiwanese style bingsu. Like Korea, it originated from Kakigori (かき氷), which was introduced during the Japanese colonial era. In the 1960s and 1970s, bingsu was made with Kakigori, red beans, condensed milk, and Japanese mochi, but gradually changed to today's Baobing, which mainly focuses on various fruits. Baobing is a Chinese term, and in Taiwan, it is also called Chubing (剉冰) in Minnam.

There are numerous types of baobings depending on the toppings, and red 紅豆冰 with a rich red bean topping is the most standard. Mango 芒果冰, which is sliced into square pieces and topped with mangoes, is the most famous dish for tourists. There is even a 芋 top with taro as a topping. It is specially called 雪 冰 when you make ice powder like snowflakes using milk instead of regular ice, which is a little more expensive. In English, regular baobings are also called "shaved ice" and "snow flake ice" are called differently.

As the name suggests, it is a food that smells very bad, and it is always considered along with surstroming, fermented skate, cheonggukjang, durian, kibiak, and haucartl. The origin of stinky tofu is said to have been made by Wang Qihua (Wang Zihe)[2] during the reign of Emperor Kang Hee-je of the Qing Dynasty. Originally, he came to Beijing from Anhui Province to take the past exam, but when he failed the past exam, he just sat down and started doing tofu business as a living.

Beef noodle is a famous food in Taiwan.
The ingredients of beef noodle include suta noodle, beef, bokchoy, etc
There are many types of beef noodles, including Lanzhou, Sangyang, and Taiwan.
Originating from the Lanzhou region in inland China, Lanzhou New Luumian is the originator of beef noodle soup and the most common form in China. Originally, the soup is close to white, but it is bland when eaten alone, so it is eaten with milk or pickled vegetables as shown in the picture above.
It is one of the representative menus of Cheongjin cuisine. This is not to say that all beef noodles in China are halal food. Only beef noodles made in a halal way by the Hui, a minority ethnic group in China, are halal food
There is also Hong Xiao Newuroumen with soy sauce stir-fried and boiled beef. It is one of the most popular beef noodles, and most franchises of beef noodles sell it as basic beef noodles. Compared to other beef noodles, the soup is darker and thicker
The dish started in Guchon, near Kaohsiung Air Force Base, is a beef noodle modeled after the beef noodle soup of Sichuan province, which was born in Sichuan province, following the retreating national government to Taiwan.
When you order beef noodles in Korea, most of them are served in this Taiwanese style. Unlike mainland China, it has a reputation for being lean and clean. One of the big differences from other beef noodles is that beef is often topped with chewy ligaments. Beef with or without meat is called beef noodle. Beef noodle. Beef noodle. Beef noodle. If you like beef noodle soup, it's the most popular right now, even if it's not instant, it's labeled and sold as "Taiwan Ramen."
Historically, the Han Chinese enjoy eating pork and don't eat beef [1] but the Hui, a Muslim who lived in Lanzhou, ate a lot of beef instead because they don't eat pork for religious reasons. They tried a way to eat beef deliciously with tough beef obtained from slaughtering old cows or buffalo, and this is called beef noodles. Ramian is definitely the noodle here.
It is a beef-based dish that is relatively rare in traditional Chinese cuisine. Since native Chinese cattle were naturally a tough buffalo with strong meat quality, and even that was used by labor rather than beef cattle, beef was not often used in cooking due to its low fat. The original Mapa tofu of Sichuan is a similar case, and it is known as a nuclear power plant that uses the meat of cows that died of old age after being used as labor

By 아현

There are more than 3,800 species of plants distributed in Taiwan. Mountains covered with forests have different types of forests depending on the altitude and a variety of vegetation. Subtropical vegetation appears between 0 and 1,980 m above sea level, between 1,980 and 3,050 m is a mixed deciduous forest and coniferous forest, and above 3,050 m, coniferous forest appears. Recently, highland vegetables and fruits have been grown taking advantage of the alpine climate. Many different types of animals live here. As of 1996, 63 species of mammals were identified, including squirrels, deer, wild boars, and Taiwanese bears. In addition, many birds (445 species), finches (80 species), amphibians (31 species), and insects live here.

I will tell you about one of them, the blue magpie.

The blue magpie (Urocissa caerulea) is a bird belonging to the crow family. It is an endemic species in Taiwan and is distributed in a wide forest area ranging from 300 to 1,200 m in height. The blue magpie's body length is 63 to 68 cm, its tail length is 34 to 42 cm, its wingspan is 20 cm, and its weight is 254 to 260 g. Most of the blue magpie's feathers are blue, the head, neck, and eyes are black, the eyes are yellow, the beak and feet are red, and the wing and tail feathers are white. The tail feathers are longer than the body length, with the middle tail feathers being the longest. Blue magpies are omnivorous and mainly eat amphibians, insects, fruits, small birds, and small mammals. Blue magpies breed from March to July and live monogamously. Typically, 3 to 6 eggs are laid, and hatching takes 16 to 18 days. Blue magpie hatchlings leave the nest 21 to 24 days after hatching and begin small flights. The blue magpie's parent bird plays a role in helping the baby bird inside the nest. Blue magpies develop strong defensive behavior inside the nest, attacking intruders until they leave. Blue magpies live in groups, and if you see a group of magpies walking around in the forest, there is a high possibility that they are a family.

-김가은-

Taiwan professional baseball league. It is a Taiwanese professional federation managed by the Chinese Professional Fenggu League. Strictly speaking, it can be seen as the name of an organizational organization and at the same time as the name of a professional baseball tournament. Currently the most popular professional sports league in Taiwan. A separate league unrelated to the CPBL that existed from 1997 to 2002. There was not even a friendly game such as a unified championship match or an All-Star game between the two leagues, and it was abolished after losing to the CPBL. There was a lot of confusion from the start of the league. TVIS broadcasting stations participated in CPBL broadcasts from the first year and continued to enjoy success as the league grew in popularity, but were stripped of their broadcasting rights in 1995. Like Hyundai Group before 1996, it was refused participation in the league. It was decided to create a league led by both sides with similar interests.

Let's take a look at the Taiwanese food Zippi. Zippi is a fried chicken breast that is a type of Chinese fried chicken that is translated into a long line. If you visit mainland China or Taiwan, you can find chicken in street stalls and night markets, and you can spread the brisket of it, fry it in oil, and eat it in a barrel without cutting it. It looks similar to chicken gas, so it is sometimes sprayed or dipped in mustard sauce. Surprisingly, most of them are not boneless, so there are many cases where there are bones underneath as you eat it. Some people like and dislike the seasoning because it also has a strong scent. We have looked at the Taiwanese food Zippi above. By 안도이
