The structure in "I am offering this Poem" is a 30 line poem this is loosely serrated into 4 stanzas. The lines do follow a specific rhyme scheme but there are scattered instances of rhyme throughout the text; for example, "you" and "through" in the first seven lines and "give" and "live" in the final six lines.

The speaker repeats "I love you" at the end of each stanza. One interpretation is that the words "I love you" are the poem being offered. In the last two stanzas, the poem, love, or both becomes a kind of home, "a cabin or hogan" and safe haven that is all "anyone needs to live."

Simile/Metaphor: Use a Metaphor triangle to help you identify the abstract ideas in a couple of key comparisons made in this poem. How do the metaphors contribute to the meaning of the poem?

"Keep it like a warm coat when winter comes to cover you, or like a pair of thick socks the cold cannot bite through." In this example of a simile, I had imagined a woman wearing a coat and snuggling it close to her, as she's in a new place or climate. Also, I imagined the woman wearing socks in front of the fireplace, which also goes with the line, "and let you warm yourself by this fire, rest by this fire, and make you feel safe.
The symbolism of the coat symbolizes keeping the bad and/ or cold out and keeping the good and warm close to you. The socks and fires symbolizes the feeling of safe and cozy.
