With great joy and excitement, I watched my first Women's NCAA Hockey Championship game. As the game progressed in a non-scoring competition, one might think this was not an exciting game, but it was quite the opposite. The game had the feeling of a contest that would be decided by the first goal. As this was scored by Wisconsin, the Huskie women needed to rise to the challenge, and they did so, in less than a minute! Heading into OT, it was clear that one of the teams would face losing this masterpiece of a championship game. It was a heartbreaking loss, but the Huskies should keep their heads raised high, for providing such a high class exposition of college athletics at its finest. Thank you for bringing Northeastern to its first NCAA championship game!

It was the right play blocking that pass at the end, just took a terrible bounce, easily could have been the other way around. I have never been prouder to be a Husky that I was today. THANK YOU, for inspiring me and my 10 year old daughter who also plays hockey. This team will go down as one of the greatest if not the greatest NU team EVER!

Despite the unfortunate fluke ending to the National Championship game, the 2020-21 season will be remembered as a season that the Huskies dominated women's college hockey:

Four Northeastern players among 12 women’s College All-Americans for 2020-21

The Huskies had 3 of the 10 finalists for the 2021 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, and 1 (Aerin Frankel) of the final 3 when the list was narrowed

NU coach Dave Flint named Division I Women's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year

Aerin Frankel selected inaugural women’s college hockey Goalie of the Year for 2020-21

Alina Mueller – top scorer in the country

Skylar Fontaine – led the country in power play goals

Chloé Aurard – led the country in short-handed goals

Goalie Aerin Frankel – led country in (a) Goals against average; (b)Save percentage: (c)Minutes played; (d) Shutouts; (e) Wins

Northeastern Team led the country in (a) Offense; (b) Defense; (c) Shorthanded goals; (d) Wins

Northeastern Team ended up third in the country in power play %, and second in the country in penalty kill %.

What a year, and with most of the team returning next year, the future looks bright.....Go Huskies!

From a member of the NU men's hockey team of the early 1960s, CONGRATS!!! on a wonderful season. Within in an OT goal of the NCAA championship is something to be cherished long after the disappointment has faded. It could just as easily have been you that got that final goal.
