EP WEEK 2

Assalamualaikum & hi everyone.

Name: Nur Izza Syahirah binti Razali
Matric number: A168433
Date: 13th August 2021

How is your progress?

In week 2, I proceed with learning 2 new topics of Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia through Open Learning. The first topic is I learned the signs for the colours such as red, orange, yellow, green and others. The interesting about learning color is that the sign for colours like yellow, green, blue and purple uses the first letter in their spelling which makes it a lot more easier to memorize them. For example, the sign for yellow (kuning) is “k” whereas for purple (ungu) is “u”. The sign for white is similar to someone expressing love.

The second topic is family in which I learned of the signs for family members such as father, mother, elder and younger siblings, grandparents as well as uncle and aunty. Other than that, I find it useful to learn sign of some words that related to the process of family such as friends, married and pregnant.

Therefore, I am now able to do a simple introduction of my family. there was a video showed how they use sign language to sign for introduction of family. I attempted quizzes and thankfully I manages to get all correct with few attempts. I found that the gestures were not that hard and I liked how we need to express suitable emotions together with the gestures.

Points to remember from week 2!

It’s helpful for me to speak verbally together with the sign language so that I can memorize the signs better. I need to remember that everytime I do sign language, I need to express suitable facial expressions. Other than that, I need to always recall and revise the basic words related to colour and family.

Your feelings & thoughts

I feel excited and intrigued as always and find it interesting to learn something new and more. My thoughts is I need to keep practicing and refer to other source such as youtube to ensure I can memorize and to sign smoother.

1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

I can now greet with the Deaf! I also learned from this week's classes was to learn at my own pace. I need to accustomed to the signs even I was able to recognize signs immediately.

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

At first, I find it hard to complete the quizzes in Open Learning MOOC because the videos no longer have subtitles so the things I did is grasping the basic questioning words first. Therefore I can understand and answer the questions better. I believe I can go through this and there are always challenges to learn a new skill though but by practising can make it perfect and I am definitely making progress.

2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
- Learning
- Fulfilment

Your plan for next week (Week 3)

- Next week's plan would be to focus on occupation and place.

Assalamualaikum & Hi everyone

Name: Syarifah Afiqah bt Syed Shahrin

Matric number: A168427

Date: 9/8/2021-13/8/2021.

How is your progress?

For week 2, I learned about pronunciation of Arabic letters, which is also the letter used in the al-Quran. The correct pronunciation of the Arabic letters comes from perfecting 2 things: correct makhraj (points of articulation of letters) and correct sifaat (characteristic of letters). The best way to learn this is for the learner to try to pronounce it after the teacher has demonstrated. Through this way, the learner can feel with their tongue/lips where the points for each letter is. Another way to learn it is by illustration, such as the diagram above.

Points to remember from week 2!

Knowledge of makhraj and sifaat is a crucial part of learning the Quran. This is because sometimes two letters may have very similar sounds (ه,ح), which makes mixing them up easy. If a person does not know the attributes of each letter, he/she may pronounce it wrongly and eventually change the meaning, which is prohibited. Thus, it is important to know how to pronounce them correctly to prevent the reciter from making mistakes when reciting the Qur’an.

Your feelings & thoughts

From this week's sessions, I truly feel how infinite knowledge is. Although I have been learning and reading al-Quran since I was young, there are actually so many things that I still do not know. I feel very grateful that I enrolled in this course as I acquired plenty of new knowledge and improved my recitation while receiving the sanad.

1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

From today onwards, I will practice reciting the Quran with the correct pronunciation.

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

After learning about makhraj and sifaat, I have realized that there are some letters that can be a bit difficult to pronounce. How I deal with it is with practice! Initially, every time I encounter those letters, I need to reread to correct my makhraj but as time progresses, alhamdulillah it has become easier to pronounce them and less rereading.

2 words to describe elective posting progress so far.

My elective posting project is a lifelong learning.

Your plan for next week (Week 3)

For week 3, I will be learning about tajweed rules. I will also continue reading al-Quran with my teacher to complete the 30 juz and receive the sanad, if Allah wills.

Assalamualaikum and Hi,
Name: Nur Affrina bt Mohamad Arshad
Matric No: A169464
Date of report: 16th August 2021

How is your progress
In week 2, I had a chance to proceed with my course based on plans. There were three big topics to cover which were Revelation and the oral Quran, second was approaching Quran as text and third was the prophet and the Quran. In one topic, there were several sub-topics to cover. There were several discussions after every topics. For example, discussion on the figure of Nabi Yusof as based on Surah yusuf in the Quran. A discussion on the names of God , indeed lists of 99 Most Beautiful names have been compiled and memorized by Muslims.

Points to remember from week 2
1. The Quran as text. The Quran is arranged in distinctive manner because the Prophet Muhammad did not compose the Quran and teach it to the community, rather the Quran is collection of revelations the Prophet Muhammad received from God from the inception of his call to prophethood at age forty until his deadth at age sixty-three. So, we had the responsibility to preserve the Quran.
2. Quran does not teach that people should be detached from wordly affairs in order to attain this spiritual state. Rather, Quran adresses our closest with family, neighbours, community, animals and all, emphasizing the need for integrity and honesty.

Feelings and thoughts
I feel excited to explore more on the course. It was a good approaching to Islam through Quran. I feel peace and understand more on the context and history of Islam, and where our world related to the Quran.

1 good thing that I can practice on
I can practice on reading hadith more in daily life. There is an app that I can dowload in my phone and get daily surahs and hadith called Muslim Pro.

Difficulties or concern
Difficulty I had was there are some english words are quite complicated to me. So i had to search on the meaning to understand better. Other than that, everything was okay Alhamdulillah. My internet connection getting better :)

2 words to describe elective posting progress
Steadily fine

Plan on week 3
To continue on next topics and improve my understanding.

We learned about 13 attributes of Allah in akidah classes, how to perform ablation, its rukun and syarat in fiqh classes and obligation of heart in tasawwuf classes. These knowledge are important especially akidah because every ibadah are not accepted except from someone who knows his creator. Imam Al-Ghazali once said;

لا تصح العبادة إلا بعد معرفة المعبود

Worship is not valid until after knowing the god

Points to remember from week 2
Knowledge about 13 attributes of Allah are indeed important for every muslims. One of important attribute is that Allah مخالفته للحوادث - He does not resembles anything.

He created light, He does not resembles light.
He created humankind, he doesnt resembles humankind
He created big creations such as hill, he doesnt resembles hill
Thus, He created everything, he doesnt resembles everything.

Allah said in quran, surah as-syura verses 11,
ليس كمثله شيء
He doesnt resembles anything

This is the strongest dalil saying that Allah does not resembles anything with his creation from every angle. Thus as a true muslims, we dont believe allah has hands, faces, and all characteristics similar to his creation as what some people said.

1 Good thing that I can practice
After knowing this, I am able to recognized and identify some groups of people who didnt follow the right path in akidah as what our prophet thought us to. I was also able to explain to my family and friends especially nonmuslims about the true akidah in islam.

Difficulties/concerns? How I cope?
So far this week has been great as i learnt a lot of different things in a short time. However i am concern about our unmanned OSCE which had been postponed next week. I am worried if the new date for OSCE will disturb my focus to EP again. I try to cope by having some hangout with friends, share my concerns and plan my time to not study last minute.

2 words to describe EP progress
Short but sweet !

Plan for week 3
To focus more on my session next week and make notes so that i can revise whenever I wanted to

In chapter Fiqh, I learned about the right way to do Istinja’ (removing impurity) and Ghusl (full ablation). The Istinja’ is a part of Islamic hygienical jurisprudence and general ritual purity of body and soul. It is equivalent action by just using stones, toilet paper or anything else that is pure without water to remove the impurity and maintain hygiene in accordance of the Islamic law and principal.

For Tasawwuf part, I learned about the sins of heart and stomach. Some good points are about the signs of a sick heart and the harm of having a full stomach. There are supporting Quranic verse and hadith calling for a believer to develop their intellect by engaging our mind into reflecting the signs of Allah swt.

Points to remember from week 2

The take home message for this week is about to contain a heart connected to Allah. The important thing is being a good person with a clean heart and sincere intentions.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Hi everyone!

Name : Rosnaini binti Sudi

Matric number: A167773

Date: 19th June - 27th June 2021

How is your progress?

As in the first week, we learned about a lot of important things in this second week. Among them are 13 attributes of Allah, riddah(apostasy), obligatory ghusl(bathing), istinjak, tayammum, sins of the heart and stomach, and a few scholars' advice. I also prepare notes based on topics that have been studied so that it is easy to revise.

Points to remember from week 2!

In week 2, we learned about apostasy (riddah). This is a very important chapter. The accountable person (mukallaf) has to be Muslim. This is what saves him/her on the Day of Judgement from the everlasting torture. Being a Muslim is an obligation upon the accountable person. This is the greatest blessing a person can have in this life. You might be going through different hardships, but if you are Muslim, thank God for this blessing. Remain steadfast to it till death.

Your feelings & thoughts

Alhamdulillah. I love to listen to the advice that is full of wisdom from the words of the scholars shared by ustaz and ustazah.

Many of us might go through hard times when we feel down and sad.

What can we do to feel better? Well, a great piece of advice is to fulfill the obligations, stay away from sins and make a lot of zikr.

Believe me. It's really helpful!

One good thing about what you did is that you can practice now!

The Prophet 'alaihissalam said what means there are two words that are easy to say and greatly rewardable :

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ العَظِيْمِ

Do you know what SubhanAllah means?
It means we clear Allah from resembling any of His creations. We learn this during Aqidah class, where Ustaz explains clearly the 13 attributes of Allah.

Say this zikr greatly rewardable vicar more often with a sincere intention. Let's start to practice it!

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Alhamdulillah, this week went smoothly. After learning about many things including riddah, I want to share and remind my loved ones including family and friends to be vigilant with what is believed, spoken, and done. May we all have a good end and die in a state of faith and adhere to the beliefs of the Ahlu sunnah waljamaah. With that, I will try to invite more of my relatives to follow this kind of program in the future as a sign of my love for them and want them to get great benefits.

Two words to describe elective posting progress so far

Blessing and Love

Your plan for next week (Week 3)

Next week, we'll learn more about riddah. We learn about apostasy not for us to do it but to stay away from it to preserve our faith.

Hello everyone.

Name: Ulyssies Bin Suderman
Matric: A168206
Date: 9/8/2021 - 15/8/2021

How is your progress?

As I planned from week 1, I wanted to improve my shading and sketching this week. After a week of sketching, I got the hang of the app Procreate, for the most part. I also thought my piece this week had more improvements as I begin to familiarise with the app. I practiced shading with monochromatic colours (black and grey). Attached video is the process of me sketching and shading of a piece I’m quite proud of. I drew this piece from imagination so you could say it’s an original character. I thought about how to draw each features meticulously and it turned out well. The simple shading also made the drawing pop out and look more realistic.

Point to remember from week 2

I actually tried to start sketching and shading using colours at first but it didn’t turn out well. Then, I learned that I need to have enough practice using monochromatic colours to improve my shading as I transition to use more colours.

Feeling and thought?

I felt satisfied and proud with the piece I did this week. Although I failed at first, I can always improve as I go on. To be honest, at first I thought digital art would be too complicated because of all the different features but I had to only take it slow one at a time.

One good thing about what you did is that you can practice now.

I needed to take things slow and not rush into it. Like they say, better late than never!

Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

I noticed that the brush strokes from the app doesn’t give me the results that I expect. So I found customised brush sets online that I was able to download for free. I art improved drastically by then.

Two words to describe elective posting progress so far

Perseverance and confidence.

Plan for next week.

I plan to start practicing with colours. It’s a lot more complicated to pick out colours that matches the shades. I’m worried how it’ll turn out but I’m excited to start!

MY EP PROGRESS REPORT (WEEK 2)

Hi & Assalamualaikum!

1. Name: Muhd Izz Zahin Danish bin Sabri
Matric number: A168752
Date: 2/8 - 8/8

2. How is your progress?

Alhamdulillah, I have decided to create a very simple yet fun game with a slightly retro kind of concept. It is called "Space Madness". It is a space fighter shooting game. I started with creating a base scene which will be my reference for a future scenes in the game. I have also installed some icon which consists of the space fighter, bullet, enemy, background & meteor. Like I stated before, this game is made without complicated coding. However, it involves some kind of "computer" language which really annoys me. I kinda just follow through the instructions one by one so that I didn't mess things up. Apart from that, I have learned how to make the character & objects behave. For example, I made the space fighter & enemies shoot and whoever gets hit will get destroyed.

3. Points to remember from week 2!

The video game is not complicated until you found this GDevelop platform. So, just learn & have fun!

4. Your feelings & thoughts

At the moment, I feel stoked & anxious. I need to cool down a bit so that I can understand well the instructions.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!

Patience.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?

Yes, there are quite a few in terms of the "computer language" because this is my first time reading & doing it. I just keep my nerve and enjoy.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far

Nerve-wracking & exciting.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 3)

I will proceed to add some wording & UI elements in my video game
