The sky was on the rainy day we'd met.

Thereupon we endured countless

Bright, rainy and frosty days together.

Dear friend, I'm grateful for the moments we had.

Thank you for staying by my side-

And making me feel I am not alone.

Thank you for helping me think wise,

At those times I never wanted to rise.

I am indebted to you for leaving me behind-

So that I could confront it myself.

Thank you for taunting me too much-

I learnt to not cry when tears were at the brink.

Thank you for telling me the truth,

Having known it would hurt me till death.

Thank you for the lessons you taught.

Thank you for the times we fought.

I appreciate you for misinterpreting me because-

I now don't care if someone gets me wrong.

It's cliché to say that we had fun,

Yet I'm certain time had a big time deceiving us!

All these times you've been kind still mean-

And that made our days momentous.

Finally, I'm grateful to you for bearing with me-

Since that gloomy day we met!

I liked to assume that you were, though.

I threw random looks at you often;

I hoped you wouldn't notice,

Yet I wanted you to know this.

I heard every word you spoke

Without letting you know that I did.

Those times you mocked me,

I was hurt but it was a sweet pain!

I was contented with myself-

To realize I could endure the small fights-

We've had over trivial matters.

I started to like things I never did

While learning it to please you.

Every time you cried, I wanted to console you,

But was scared to even approach you

You cared not once and I's certain you wouldn't either;

Even so loving someone who doesn't-

Consider even your existence is amusing and queer!

Now it's time for us to part ways,

And let me wrap everything up with a 'thanks'-

For the times you inadvertently assisted me 

To stay the same yet better!

It's twilight, yet hadn't amassed grain.

Hard to be found,she preferred berries more.

Was yearning food the whole day long.

Flew down, near to a pond-

Was tired and thirsty.

The stomach was filled that she drank.

Hardly had she taken off, when she found

Grains and berries, strewn over the ground.

Small beak she'd; can't hold too much hence.

One was often eaten,the other her preference.

One was fresh;the other was old and trodden.

She was confused;her heart was throbbing;

Yet, she few off with grains in her beak.

"I'll get berries one day."she hopes.
