1. There are several styles of co-teaching, and depending on the personalities of the teachers and the class makeup, different styles can be more effective. The key is playing to the strengths of both teachers in the room.
2. This is my 3rd year in a co-teaching classroom. My first year, I was the general education teacher, and last year and this year, I am the special education teacher. My first experience was not good--the special ed teacher I worked with did not contribute to the class and sometimes did not show up. Last year was a much better experience where we were able to both contribute more equally.
3. What are reasonable expectations for a sped teacher in a co-teach situation?
4. I love being able to collaborate with others and to work toward what is best for students, and I know co-teaching can be very beneficial for students.

I am making myself aware of this model.

1. There are four different types of co-teaching, which one you use depends on how the lesson is constructed. Deciphering between the different types can be challenging. Students benefit from co-teaching because they are able to learn from two teachers' perspectives.
2. I have been co-teaching for ELA and math. I don't fully know what co-teaching entails so it's been an interesting experience.
3. How do we plan co-teaching into our lesson to be the most effective?
4. I am a resource teacher. I go into various classrooms to teach with the general education teacher. It's going to be nice to have training for what I am already doing.

I know co-teaching may change depending on the personalities of teachers and needs of students. My strength has been to monitor and adjust based on need.
2. I have co-taught for 3 years, two have been dominated by the experienced teacher, but I have learned to better make accommodations and adjust based on the needs.
3. How, with so many teachers and/or adults in the rooms do we entrust students to be independent and not rely too much on the additional help?
4. I am a co-teacher, so this training seems relevant. I believe throughout the year I tend to fluctuate between different methods of co-teaching based upon the need. Monitor and adjust.

I don't know very much at all about co-teaching as we were just notified last week about our attendance here. I know that my partner worked as a co-teacher with a colleague of mine for the past two years, though.
2. None other than working with SpEd teachers and paras in my classroom - only two teachers in our department have attempted anything resembling co-teaching and only during semesters where they have a plan period together as well as the same class during the same block.
3. Ask me again after today...
4. We all have at least one class with SpEd or paras, so this could be very helpful for me to know how best to have them utilize their skills.

As a new co-teacher, what are things I must be doing to ensure the best success of the students. I'm interested in the actual "planning" components of co-teaching. What does it entail? 4. Other teachers within my pod have had co-teaching training and have begun implementing. I'm learning as I go but definitely need to find ways to utilize the co-teaching model more effectively.
