Text 1, created by the brand of Mercedes, is an advertisement entitled "This is for you", published in the year of 2021. Firstly, in regard to its explicit meaning the advertisement's main purpose is to promote their products, which are the new, all-electric cars as well as to then make them seem appealing to the audience in order for the recipients to purchase them for the brand to make profit. On the other hand, the text conveys certain matters on a subtextual level - it demonstrates how acquiring their cars can provide a permanent solution to the problem of climate change and pollution, as inter alia, highlighted by the dream-like, clear background connoting purity. The overarching theme is establishing a brighter world as a collective and the agency to make a change.

Overall, the audience is positioned to reflect on their consumerist choices as well as ponder upon how they contribute to the hazardous outcomes of global warming and air pollution. They are prompted to ponder upon how they can make a positively associated change whilst encouraging them to spark that with their vehicles.

In their work, Mercedes is exploring the thematic concern of: "to what extent does one's desire for luxurious goods is justified by their willingness to make a positive contribution?" I would like to analyse this body of work in terms of how this is achieved through visual imagery and how that comments on the issue of social disparities within the society, the car and how it explores the concept of balance between luxury and greater causes as well as the diction in regard to how consumerism culture thrives.

Text 1, "This is for you", designed by Mercedes(2021) is an ads promoting Mercedes's new product of electric vehicles. The form of convention deployed by Mercedes, including the diction, the composition, and the juxtaposition, is in line with its thematic concern of to what extent humans can preserve the environment from further degradation while maintaining the preferred lifestyle, such as driving. The three forms of convention achieve the intention of boosting their product and justified the modern lifestyle. The connotative meaning of this ad is selling a 'customised' gift' to the customers. Demonstrating the image of a car driven upon the water surface/glacier, this remarkably conveys the notion that the 'gift' is environmentally friendly and is a solution to the contemporary impureness of the water bodies which humans pollute. The subtextual meaning of the ads insinuates that by purchasing Mercedes's products, the customers are contributing to a cleaner and better world, elevating the brand image to possess a higher level of moral value.

The mountains, the sky along with the clouds as well as the icy ground, on which the car is placed, highlight how the dream-like, otherworldly of an experience driving with a Mercedes car can be as well as simultaneously connote sustainability within the environment. Furthermore, it also implies how freedom and one's sense of self can only be explored through the brilliant, reliable and innovative vehicles of Mercedes. It also connotes how one can achieve new heights and self-actualisation through the product.
