Culture in Italy is different. While I love the amazing food and art, I am sometimes frustrated at myself for not knowing the language better. I feel somewhat prepared, but everyone speaks so fast. I wish I understood more!

I am very excited to experience the new culture, especially the food and all the buildings and artwork. I think the most challenging part of this trip will be that I'm not fluent in Italian, so I won't understand a lot of what people are saying. I do know basic phrases in Italian so hopefully that will help! - Sami Dames

I am excited to visit the markers and eat authentic Italian foods. I am super excited to see what the style will look like, but I am an anxious packer, so I want to make sure I pack all of the right things, but not overpack. I am also worried about communication, as I also am not fluent in Italian, and I don't want to be made fun of when trying to order a meal at dinner, haha.

I am very excited to be a part of the Italian culture and take part in their daily routine by partaking in their markets, coffee, and common dishes. I want to be able to seamlessly integrate into the typical lifestyle of Italy by means of language and dress. I want to go into the experience with an open mind and to enjoy to most of out the trip abroad.

I am very excited to experience the authentic foods of Italy along with the art and architecture. I am the most worried about the language. I've been keeping up with my Duolingo, but I have a hard time remembering the phrases if I'm not seeing it in front of me.

I am excited for the food and the art that we'll see. I am excited about learning more about how traditional food in Italy is made. I'm a bit worried about the language. People speak their native language much faster than what's used in stuff like Duolingo.

I am super excited to explore the art around Italy. The way their culture is embedded into the art and architecture of each region is super unique and interesting, so learning more about the art pieces and what they mean is exciting. I am worried about the language barrier. I struggle with learning different languages and understanding others, especially when I cant try to read the words to help me understand.

I am most excited for seeing the various forms of artwork. I personally think it will be challenging as it is a lot of history to learn, but it excited me the most to know that the art applies to multiple concepts of life and time.

The cultural aspects that excite me the most are the architecture and the food that Italy has to offer. I am so excited to learn about the history of the architecture, especially in the religious aspect of the Catholic Church. I am also really excited and grateful to be able to to try the Italian food. There is going to be so much I am going to want to try, I’m starting to save my money now.

I am most excited for understanding the health aspect behind their culture and their exercise. The way they view exercise and food. Especially how they base their social life around food, spending more time eating dinner and lunch than Americans. I also will enjoy learning about the history behind the food and recipes.

I am very excited to try the food in Italy, especially the gelato. I am sure that the food in Italy will taste a hundred times better than the food in the States. I am also excited for the immersion into everyday life. It will be interesting to see how social interactions differ. My biggest concern is how I will tackle the language barrier. While I have studied, I am not fluent. I hope the locals are patient with me!

I am most excited to experience the culture of interactions between people and the active lifestyle in Italy, especially to see how it differs from American culture. I am also super excited to try different foods and see how it is different from the American Italian food. What I think will be most challenging is the language barrier. While I have worked hard to keep my streak on Duolingo, I feel that it will be a challenge that I will face while abroad.
