Emilia was not a pure German and he felt what Hitler was doing was unfair . It is impossible to portray the true misery the refuges of europe faced during this time. Ruta Sepetys book Salt to the Sea did a very well job of showing the deep fear and lies burned deep into the soul of each refuge. These Men, Women, and Children put everything they got just to disappoint themselves, no matter how many times they fell, they dug deep and found the courage to stand up.
