Once thing that these three themes have in common is that they deal with having to be selfless and caring. We’re always taught to care for others and put them before ourselves, yet my journey in Ateneo has greatly emphasized being a person for others. I believe that the reason why it has left such an impact in my life is due to the encounters that I’ve had with different people throughout social formation activities. From visiting households of poor families and their community, to planting trees, and sweeping streets while engaging with city street cleaners, I was able to have the opportunity to interact with various people who have different stories to tell. It was nice to take the time and talk to people and hear about their experiences and it also gave enhanced my sense of empathy. There’s so much about the world and the people in it that we don’t know about.
