Four planes were hijacked. 3 of them hit buildings. The buildings that were hit were the twin towers and the pentagon. The fourth plane had been hijacked, but the passengers revolted against the terrorists, and crashed the plane in a field in Pennsylvania. They all died in the crash, but saved many more lives. Overall the amount of people that died that day was 2,996. They were housed in Afghanistan, so we went to Afghanistan to fight them. After tracking the Al-Qaeda leader, Bin Laden, the US decided to go and capture him. During that time that it took for the US to get to where Bin Laden was from he had escaped. The US captured 20 of his men in exchange for Bin Laden. It took the US 10 years to track, and kill Bin Laden. It lasted from 2007-2009, for about 18 months. It was the greatest economic disaster in US history since the Great Depression. The causes of the Great Recession were almost the same as the Great Depression. They both had High Risk mortgages.
