Some may argue that popular misconceptions aside, lifestyle newspapers and magazines provide readers with important insights into central aspects of human interactions and behavior, such as relationship articles or those featuring societal trends. For example, magazines such as Her World Plus, Motherhood and Teenage give tips and life hacks which help people.
R
However these lifestyle newspapers and magazines still provide a wealth of largely trivial information for readers, as they are mostly meant for leisure and light reading.
For example many magazines such as Teenage give more importance to trivial celebrity news than these hacks and tips.

Others may argue that serious newspapers recognize the challenge posed to commercial viability in the internet age and have responded pro-actively to the trend by developing comprehensive online editions that continue to provide important news. These newspapers share similar platform which are already widely used by teenagers. For example there are many newspaper companies that post their news on their Instagram and Twitter which are accessible to teenagers. For example many newspapers around the world such as The New York Time and BBC also have online versions.
R
However, in order to remain commercially viable in the internet age, many serious newspapers shed increasing amounts of column space for more digestible and trivial news or glossy advertising space featuring the latest consumer products. For example, The Straits Times showcases full page advertisements during GSS, National Day and Formula 1 races. (wrong ) They are a shared platform and are merely competing for attention with all the other trivial news or feeds on social media.First priority of social media is not for news but for something rather trivial that is more interesting to teenagers due to the peek into the lives of other people.E.g. Buzzfeed

Some may argue that many educational magazines serve a more serious client base, featuring important and relevant material about societal issues.E.g Time and The Economist
R
However, magazines also deal with trivial matters, such as celebrity gossip and it is expected that their material would pander to such tastes as there is a ready market for them. The minority of teenagers would actually appreciate such magazine while majority of teens would rather choose to read magazines or newspapers that entertain them instead.E.g. Celebrity Gossip
