Discussion of e-portfolios: It was brought up in our last meeting that Seesaw would be a useful tool for kindergarten. If each grade level uses different platforms then it would be difficult for everyone to compile documents into one singular place.

Developmental stages focused primarily on play and art. Most of the assessment/portfolio would include teacher dictated writing from a conversation with a child. This seems great and developmentally appropriate, and also unrealistic for a teacher to do for a class of 23 students at multiple points during the year.

Art is used as a main topic for pre-primary portfolios. This would work very well with our Art and the world around us unit in Amplify. I like the idea of saving all our art from the year to include writing, math based art, comprehension based art, etc. but it would be incredibly difficult to store all of those things throughout the year.

Portfolios seem like a great way to increase student agency and voice. There was a line in The Portfolio Connection that said "If students graduate from our school still dependent upon others to tell them when they are adequate...then we have missed the whole point of what education is about." (p. xxiii)
