There is the timeline of the narrator/sister, who wasn't born when the events she narrates occurred, the mixed up abduction time of the brother, and then the time of incarceration. Seems like time is broken or looping. And unreliable.

In “Clay,” people’s consciousnesses are uploaded and stored. They are preserved as a static version of their selves while time passes around them. We also see use of something like VR where the main character is able to interact with his wife in a time where they were both younger. This use of technology seems to make time more flexible
