In the text it states,”The threats to coral and coral reefs — which include climate change, pollution, coastal development, fishing and the creation of jewelry and souvenirs — are very real.” This means that they’re many threats to coral reefs. This shows that the text structure is cause and effect because it’s showing a cause for the effect to happen. According to the text it states,”Some experts predict hunger, poverty and political instability as the livelihoods of the peoples of entire countries disappear.” This means that the experts are predicting what might happen. This shows the effect because if coral reefs were to disappear then that would be the outcome.

The author uses cause and effect to organize the information in this text. It is cause and effect because it presents the problem and then the effects of what could happen because of the problem. The text states, “So what happens is the coral reefs vanish completely? Some experts predict hunger, poverty, and political instability as the livelihoods of the people of entire countries disappear.” This shows that the coral reefs may disappear also, the cause explains a piece of evidence as well. Another example from the text is, “Once the coral is dead, the reefs will also die and erode, destroying important marine life spawning and feeding grounds.” This explains another effect that could happen if the coral reefs just vanish. Therefore, the author uses cause and effect to organize the text because a cause is presented, as well as the effects being followed by it.
