Eid al-Fitr marks at the end of Ramadhan, the Muslim holy month of fasting and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal. These celebrations during Eid al-Fitr vary from country to country but include visiting family and friends, giving presents, enjoying feasts, wearing new clothes, and visiting the graves of relatives.Through these celebrations, Muslims show their gratitude to Allah after reflecting and fasting during Ramadan.
This festival is also a reminder for Muslims to be grateful for what they have as well as to help the less fortunate. This is known as zakat, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. Zakat is a requirement that all Muslims with the means to do so donate to the less fortunate.

This is the best time to sample the best traditional Malay homecook cuisine such as ketupat, rendang, lemang, kuih raya and many more. Rendang is prepared by cooking the meat or chicken with variety of spices and herbs with coconut milk for several hours. This dish is normally served with ketupat or lemang. Ketupat or rice dumpling is specially made by boiling the rice in special woven container made from palm leaves. Lemang, which is almost similar to ketupat, which is also made from rice, is another traditional dish during Hari Raya.
The difference between Ketupat and lemang lies mainly in the ingredients and how the dish is prepared. While ketupat are often boiled and contain only rice, lemang on the other hand are prepared by cooking the rice with coconut milk in a bamboo tube on a small fire.
