The place he chooses is Montebello (now Mombello), in the beautiful villa Pusterla-Crivelli. we surely know that the villa was occupied by Napoleon's court from may to october 1797. 
the villa isn't only Napoleon's headquarters, but the site of a real and proper court. Napoleon also brings all his family with him. The generals who took part in Napoleon's victories and the aides-de-camp also frequent Mombello.
