George held his first full cabinet meeting on February 25th 1793, with secretary of state Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, Secretary Of War Henry Knox, and attorney Edmund Randolph.

He pretty much gave all those guys job in the political "industry".

This was a way of making decisions about the nation's money, while the secretary of war was in charge of protecting the country, the attorney general made sure federal laws were obeyed, (reasons behind those cabinets).

He helped defeat the British in New Orleans in 1812, he was seen as a hero and that's one of the main reasons people voted for him. 

Andrew was a Major General in the war,  also served in the Revolutionary War, and he's the only president to ever fight in both.
