before the food carts, there wasn't a lot different foods that were in the middle of forest grove and cornelius, you either had to go to one side or another. But now its in a good spot for people to come together and try different foods. New food carts coming and going as well.

How Economy has shaped experiences with social change in my community

I feel like the economy in Cornelius is varied throughout the different people that live here. The people that do struggle with financial problems and lack of resources, usually get help from people all over the city and create local groups to go out of their way to help people. This is just stuff I've personally seen so I can't speak on the rest of city. Though I do feel like people that live here look out for each other.

How the institution of education systems affected me and my community

It affected me when Covid happened and I'm sure it affected everyone else as well. When we had a long break from school then suddenly had to do everything online was definitely a struggle. My brother also had to do the same thing except he was in 7th grade and I was in 11th, so I feel like it was little harder for him. Then to do everything online the next year , we eventually got used to it and had a system. It was hard not talking to anyone in person and for some reason we felt like not talking online like we were nervous or something. In Chapter 7 they talk about how learning is influenced through either lived experience or interacting in the classroom. Though we weren't really in a classroom interacting with each other and lived experiences we got were kinda awkward chats online. I feel it affected how we communicate online at first.. then over time we gained knowledge on how to behave and that it's not that scary. Learning how to hunt and hearing stories about it was a great example of how learning and communicating with people can help you and gain knowledge.

Religion in my community

I feel like people are pretty religious in the Cornelius/Forest Grove area due to the many churches we have around and the vast of amount of people that have been religious for years and their families. The more known religions in the area are Christianity, Catholic, and Mormonism. I have been to some churches when I first moved here, but only with friends. They were pretty nice experiences with friendly people, my family and I are just not that religious. We kinda just believe in our own thing. There was this youth group thing called One80 that was in Forest Grove that was supposed to be a fun hang out place for kids and teens that were religious. Half of the time people could just hang out and play games and eat food or whatever, then the second half the pastor or someone would start talking about god. Which I figured was gonna happen, wasn't really my thing.

Padlet reflection

I'm choosing Education, Religion, and Social Movements for what has impacted my community the most. Education in my community is always thriving and doing the best they can do. Especially after doing online school for a year some of these kids have learned a lot from online and now that they're back it's nice to know that they can have face to face conversations and in person learning due to the struggles of online learning. I've been doing online school for awhile and it had to take some time to get used to, but I can positively say that it has helped me and has given me more chances and opportunities to do more things outside of school. Other than education, religion in my community is something that will always be there and somewhere people can go to in times of need. Though there are very few diverse religions in my community as far as I know, everyone here is welcoming and open to whatever. The people in my community are aware of different social movements are are actively involved with them. During 2020 when many protests were happening, in my community I saw and experienced many different people protesting the end of racism and fighting for equality. Kids and adults joined together fighting for something good and true was something I didn't think I'd witness in my community, but I am proud of them for that. Though we live in a divided country, people of my community may see things differently or don't agree with of the things that are accepted here and everyone has their own viewpoint and opinion. I do feel like everyone does get along no matter where we live and fight for. We're all just people living together in one big community.
