The claim of the article is that the problem of hunger and poverty continues to be an issue. Based on the article, 44.6% of kids are below the federal poverty level in the Cincinnati city limits alone. Also, the article claims the people in the Cincinnati area "... still have a higher percentage of children living in poverty than they did just six years ago...". The statistical evidence truly emphasizes the issue at hand.

The entire article is a logos appeal with incredible amounts of information and statistics about the topic. It uses the rhetorical device of enumeration. It lists multiple things one by one to draw attention to all of the detail.

With the percentage of people under the federal poverty level ultimately increasing, the U.S. government has to cut the budget in which goes towards the financial assistance of poor Americans. Many of whom need the money so desperately that their children don't know whether or not they will go to bed hungry. It is so continuous and so vast in this modern day and age that it is at the upmost amazement that it so uninterrupted. It is truly heartbreaking and it should be a top priority to everyone.

The problem of suicide and the dilapidated mental health of teens around the country are no small issue as some may think it is. The possibility that the suicide of a child can happen is bigger than just about anything and is "shocking" when it happens claims the article. The article informs you just how common it is to find a teenager who has major anxiety, depression and thoughts of hurting themselves. Also, one of the panel members, Caitlin Grimes, uses a metaphor in her statement about how easy it is to make a group to spread the awareness. She says, "There is no face for mental health. It is everyone". The article leans toward a pathos and logos appeal with a set of statistics in a survey taken about how 7 students feel about the topic and also their personal experience.

The death of a student at Boone County High School sparked a movement by a suicide panel to help in increasing the awareness of suicide. A suicide survivor is among one of the panel members to help with the job. She claims that suicide is preventable and that there are multiple signs that can help predict whether someone is suicidal or not. There is evidence from personal experience, and a psychology teacher.

When you enlist in the military you are then obligated to be in the armed forces for 4 years. You are under jurisdiction of the officers and NCOs above you. You train, survive and work what ever MOS you go into. Some get deployed around the globe to fight for the country in which hired them and/or for those in need. After those 4 harsh years, you have the choice of going home and doing whatever you may please. Or, reenlisting under a contract for a second term of 4 years. Those who come home, often aren't so well off. The memories of what they have experienced traumatize them and conquer their minds. PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder is just one of the many common disabilities of veterans. This cause them not to be able to work. Which means no income. Which means people who fought for our country are not cared for. I am astonished.
