Discipline: Science
Summary: In First-Ever Evidence That Mosquitoes Can Be Trained by Michelle Z. Donahue, The article describes the amazing ability of mosquitoes, which is connecting its memorization ability to find the target flexibly. Scientists have examined this skill by disabling the dopamine channels and found that the mosquitoes lose its ability and it goes back to the same target. scientists should be aware of while developing new repellants. If scientist did not find a solution for this problem, a lot of killing diseases will be transferred by those insects.
Response: This ability that mosquitoes have cause a serious issue that a lot of people are not aware of. Scientists must find a solution to this epidemic disease to save thousands of people lives, especially the people who are living in poor countries since a lot of diseases happen by through mosquitoes. I think that scientist also should think of a way to decrease the danger of these pesticides because it is not right to solve a problem by causing another. Also, I believe that campaigns must be done to show people how serious this problem is.
DQs
1) If you were a scientist, What other ways you could do to avoid this problem?
2) Why the majority of people don't consider mosquitoes as a problem?
I think it is because the mosquitoes are just so normal and tiny. People normally won't care that much about this kind tiny things. Moreover, there are hundreds of people have been attacked by mosquitoes but people didn't see this caused a huge problem. Thus, people won't think that this normal and tiny thing would cause this much problems.
3) We always hear that science is evolving by time, so why are we discovering more diseases by time?

#2 answer:
I think people don't consider mosquitoes as a problem because they are too small. Since they are so small people would think they could be killed easily. Also people do not see mosquitoes that much, especially in urban. Even there are mosquitoes, people have millions of ways to kill them.

#3 answer:

I think the first reason for people discover more and more diseases is by the development of technology and industry, our environment gets worse and worse, which cause a worse living situation for human and gain more disease. For the second reason, it is because by the time of the improve for medical, human are finding out more disease. For example, people might can not find the reason for some illness in the past, but now they can defined it. Therefor it seems like we discover more diseases, while some of them have already existed before.

Response: In the article, scientist are trying to train mosquitoes by using their ability of learning. I used to get bite from mosquitoes all the time during summer. They are so annoying. I tried to use spray thing to prevent them close to me. While the spray usually become less and less useful as time go on. Maybe it is a way to show that mosquitoes are improving. I really hope the scientists could success on this topic. I could not imagine how the world would change if human trained mosquitoes. I wish there are not any mosquitoes come to bite me when I go to the county.

In the article Evidence That Mosquitoes Can Be Trained, the author provided different examples from scientist investigation about how mosquitoes would impact human's life and what solution might come after it. It is a biological science based article. Scientist said that mosquitos would cause serious diseases, and however, majority of people won't pay that much attention to that small insect. Furthermore, different mosquitos from different places would cause different problems. However, scientists are trying to find a solution to overcome this mosquito problems.
