Post Colonial theory is a tool that we can use to analyze literature and stories from the past. However, it can also be applied to any event of the present or future. Post colonial theory has been used time and time again to break down the true meaning of literature. It has also been instrumental in the break down and understanding of major historical events. When applied to historical events, post colonial theory allows the reader to decipher the events for themselves to have a better understanding of the events, other than taking the story for what it is.

I am a firm believer in the theory that people should evolved throughout their lives. A person's identity should change as they mature through life and its events. Opinions of me as a person will vary depending on when that person met me. Early on in life, I was a skinny that was not very confident. I was never the popular kid in school. Neither was I the guy that the girls were going out of their way to get to talk to. It was not a regular thing, but I was bullied at couple of different times as well. Before I graduated high school I decided that I would join the military. I departed for basic training 10 December 1997. Little did I know, this was day one of my identity changing. Year after year in the Air Force, my confidence grew as well as my physical person. I transformed from a skinny kid with a little confidence to a man with all the confidence in the world. I have and will always remain humble, because I know where I came from to get to where I am now.

Being a fan of Football and Jamie Foxx alike, this movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. In this movie, Willie Beamen was a relatively unknown player at the beginning of the movie. At the start of the movie Willie was thrust into the game due to injuries to the first two quarterbacks. At the time he was just a regular guy that was on the team. He played pretty good in that first game experience after a slow start. Once he became the regular starting quarterback, his whole identity changed. Before the fame, he was a humble guy. After the fame he became a cocky guy that was not a joy to be around. Everyone from his girlfriend to his teammates turned away from him due to this change in him. After realizing he was pushing everyone away and his safety on the field as well as his future were at stake, he decided to humble himself and repair the relationships that he had previously destroyed. Willie Beamen changed his identity on more than one occasion in this movie. Being thrust into fame, was something he was not prepared to deal with. After realizing the bonds that he was ruining, he decided to make the appropriate changes to himself for the better.

This movie Stars Jackie Chan as an old man out for vengeance. Until tragedy comes into his life in the form of his daughter being killed in a terrorist bombing, he was the average loving father to his daughter. In the beginning of the film he and his daughter are riding in the car and talking about a dance that she was going to attend. He then drops her off at a store to pick up something for the dance. Shortly after she goes into the store it is blown up and she is killed. That marked the beginning of the change is his identity. The affects of losing his daughter in such a horrific manner changed his identity from old man and loving father to a father looking for answers and revenge. After being ignored and blown off in his search to find who was responsible, he took matters into his own hands. He changed into a ex military special forces member who would stop at nothing to avenge the death of his daughter. Pain and suffering were the driving forces of the change in the identity of the character in this film.
